About Me

Passionate Counselling Professional

I am an RPC, that is a Registered Professional Counsellor. I graduated in 2006. I worked in private practise for 18 months, most of work focused on youth and then moved into the field of mental health services. In 2014 I left that work and moved back into private practice working primarily with mothers. Specifically mothers who were experiencing postpartum depression/ anxiety. In 2015 I moved to Vancouver. I took training in Integrated Somatic Therapy Practise (ISTP), formerly named Mindfulness Based Somatic Therapy (MBST). I began counselling in private practise again in August 2019.

I meet with people in person and online using a platform called doxy.me.

I work primarily with individuals and couples. I am currently completing advanced training through the Couples Institute focusing on the Developmental Model (Bader/Pearson).

Individual Counselling

Returning to your self.

Through the lens of compassion and unconditional positive regard I will assist and support individuals to uncover old coping strategies, reveal core beliefs, release past trauma and suppressed emotions that are holding one back from stepping into truth, finding joy, fulfillment and clarity. Also creating a deep connection to self which allows for a deeper connection in all other relationships and experiences.

I practise traditional talk therapy, Integrated Somatic Therapy Practice (ISTP) formerly named Mindfulness Based Somatic Therapy (MBST), yoga, meditation, breath work to support in healing, relief for anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, Postpartum Depression/Anxiety, grief & loss, OCD.

Integrated Somatic Therapy Practice

Healing the whole self.

With the practice of Integrated Somatic  Therapy Practice we move away from talk therapy. In this day and age it is easy to disconnect from ourselves, use distraction to feel less of our experience for the purpose of getting on with things, getting stuff done. This practise connects us to our body, through breath. We become united with our body. When we deepen our breath, we connect to our body, we feel. We can explore what we have been disconnected from. We can process, release and heal from what may still be gripping us, gripping within us. The suppressed, and repressed emotions, past trauma. Feel released from the fear of the pain one may hold inside, resulting in a more joyful life. Once we are deeply connected to ourselves we can more deeply connect to others.

Couples Counselling

Connecting….

Our most intimate relationship is often the one we have with our partner. This can be the most powerful, deeply meaningful and rewarding relationship, it can also be scary. Did you know that the foundation we built for our intimate relationships actually developed in the first few years of our lives? Early attachment and detachment impacts us and shows up in our emotionally intimate relationships throughout our lives. The developmental model of couples therapy is an approach that focuses on the growth and development of each partner individually and the development and growth of the couple as a unit.
